Whenever I sit down to write these blogs a number of ideas come through my mind, but I figure nobody cares about the number of diapers I’ve changed in the last three months (837),  the movies I watched this past weekend when I should have been writing, but was laid up with a cold (Year One, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, What Happens in Vegas) or the number of times I had to redo the Christmas lights around the railing of my deck because I couldn’t seem to get it just right (6).

But I did think you’d be interested in two things.  One: Zumba.  Two: Young bloggers.

Zumba, you say?  What the heck is Zumba?

It’s my new obsession and has my muse shaking it likes it hot.   I’ve always been a gym fanatic, love the gym!  But recently when I went back to working out after the baby (and gaining a ridiculous 60 pounds all in the last several months of my pregnancy….mmmm chocoalate…..)  I was bored!  I hated every minute of the treadmill.  I found myself dancing around at home so I had an excuse not to go to the gym.  Then I shoved the scaredy cat side of myself in the closet and went to a Zumba class.  Never have I had more fun working out!

Zumba’s motto is:  Ditch the workout, join the Party!  And it is so true!  It’s a mixture of salsa and hip-hop dancing.  Oh I can hear you now….  Don’t even!  I suck at dancing.  I’m certifiably the most uncoordinated woman on the planet.  We gave our first daughter the middle name Grace hoping she’d have more than me!  Have you ever seen Miss Congeniality? When Sandra Bullock walks out looking all hawt, and then falls on her face?  Yeah, that’s the type of grace I have-minus the hawt, lol.

On top of that, I’ve been droppin’ it likes it hot so much over the last couple weeks I’ve already lost inches.  I’m feeling more energy, the happy endorphins are literally flying through my veins, I’m feeling sexy…. AND the best part, the muse is being nurtured in a good way.  She’s rocking and rolling.

Try it!!!!

Okay now onto number 2: Young bloggers.

My daughter loves to write on the computer.  She has documents saved on her computer, My Writing.  She loves to email people. Very cute.  In her school, 3rd graders have a blog! (It’s safe, the teacher has to approve all comments, and runs the blogs himself–no personal info, things like that.)

Can you believe it?  Her assignment this week was to do a book review.  I am in Heaven!  It is so exciting to see her doing things like this since its what I do for a living.

I think it is so important to start nurturing that creative side as early as possible. In today’s day and age, we use electronics, computers, blogs, emails, etc… I’m blogging right now!  It’s just another fun thing I can share with my children about my job.

I also admit to being a bit jealous–the students in her class were assigned Alphasmarts!  Sweet!  I want one!

Since she is my oldest, I might just be totally in the dark.  Do all schools do this?  I can only relate to when I was in school, and I think we had computer lab once a year, lol.  I remember taking typing as a requirement in high school.  At any rate, it makes me proud.

What do you think about young bloggers?

I’m going to end this blog today with a joke my daughter told me she told her class:  “My mom is an Arthur who writes about King Author.”  Pretty good for 8 year old humor eh? lol

Happy writing and get dancing!
