I’m back! Well, officially I never left—but I’m back to blogging! It’s a new me…now I’m the mother of three gorgeous girls. I’m a size bigger—although I’m working on that one—and I have a new perfume: Eau de Puké-Puké. I assure you, my DH finds my new scent oh-so-enchanting, lol.
So what have I learned from my experience, besides the fact that if I were to have another baby, my husband can’t leave my side, since the five minutes he did leave, I birthed a baby? Well, I’ve learned that I can still survive on a few hours of sleep, having three kids is WAY different than two—no matter what anyone tells you—especially when all three are sick, and that my butt seems to grow exponentially with each new addition.
Writing at first was tough. The first month of having a newborn I got nothing done. Well, that’s not true, I did A LOT of thinking about my writing. Planning in my head, and there have been many a night up at 3am writing scenes in my head while feeding the baby, that I promptly forgot once my head hit the pillow again. But the last two weeks have been productive for me, and things seem to be on the up and up!
I finished the edits my editor sent me before I had the baby, phew! And I’ve gotten back into the writing groove. I can reasonably write for about 1-2 hours a day. Things just have to be planned out A LOT more. And I’ve learned to not be upset when it doesn’t happen.
Obviously, baby Alexis isn’t on a steady schedule yet, but she does have a longer nap in the morning and another in the afternoon. I’ve learned to do my emails/promo/workshops/critiques/chores in the morning, and in the afternoon I’m working on my own writing/editing. If nap time isn’t working, I’ve learned to type while breastfeeding J On top of that I’m spending individual time with my older girls, getting in some walks, going to the park, cooking dinner by 5:30 and spending some time with the hubster—although by the evening, all he gets is to sit next to me on the couch and watch tv while I occasionally fall into a narcoleptic 3 second snooze and pass him the littlest cherub.
It’s been an adjustment to be sure, but I am happy to report that it does seem to be going quite well. I feel human again. I’m wearing REAL jeans, and I shower everyday.
AND… I had a release yesterday. Her Captain Surrenders, the 2nd book in my Men of the Sea series, (Regency Romance e-novella) was released! Yay!
Here’s a blurb and an excerpt:

Lady Juliette Blackburn, knows what she wants, and she wants Captain Cruise. A rich widow in her own right, she’s decided to take her love life in her own hands. However, at every turn the man of her dreams is running away from her. She’ll have to keep up a subtle chase to discreetly reel him in. Despite their mutual attraction something darker is pulling them together. A rogue former lover of Juliette’s is the main suspect in Nathaniel’s investigation, and now he’s threatening both their livelihoods. Together they’ll fight the villain and perhaps on the way Nathaniel and Juliette will surrender to love.

Excerpt
“Captain Cruise.” His hostess Lady Challedon came up behind him. “May I introduce to you to a dear friend?”
Nathaniel swallowed his distaste at meeting another groom hunter, and turned to gaze into the most stunning pair of lavender eyes, made all the more brilliant by a frame of thick, curling black lashes. Lady Blackburn. For a moment he was struck dumb. They’d never been formally introduced, yet he’d seen her everywhere, the park, ballrooms, Covent Garden, and dinner parties. And she had seen him. More than once, he’d looked up to find her eyes on him but he’d been too preoccupied helping Captain Montgomery, the Earl of Stafford, to beg an introduction. He’d managed to find out her name, that she was a widow, and little else.
“My pleasure, ladies.”
He bowed. She curtsied. Nathaniel let his gaze fall to where full breasts pushed the limits of her silvery gown. His gaze lingered on her breasts a scant moment longer before traveling the length of her narrow waist and rounded hips. The curves of her figure promised to be a lush experience for any man. His body stirred to life with the thought. Perhaps he could persuade her to enjoy a night with him.
He caught his bearings and managed a polite, “Lady Blackburn, would you care to honor me with a dance?”
“I should like that very much.”
Deep golden blonde hair, with hints of coral red, bobbed atop her delicate head as she nodded. She slipped her arm into the crook of his elbow, and gazed up at him. Her touch sent a shocking hunger racing through his veins. He’d never reacted this way to a woman before.
Get ahold of yourself, Nathaniel! He felt like an adolescent rather than the two and thirty years he was.
“Captain Cruise, I seem to be running into you quite often. Are you enjoying the Season?”
He paused a moment before answering. He couldn’t tell her he would rather chew off his own arm than attend another ball. He should let her know he didn’t intend to tarry long in London. The sea called his name, begged him to return, and he planned to answer as soon as he possibly could.
“’Tis a most fascinating way to distract myself until I return to my ship.” Nathaniel glanced at the lady to gage her reaction.
The corners of her mouth curved into a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. She looked away, as if trying to hide her disappointment.
“What is the name of your ship, Captain?” Her voice held a note of pique. Was she a saucy lady then? |

Captain Nathaniel Cruise has a job to do.

I loved your post, Eliza. The newbie is precious!!! I can’t wait to get your book! I’ll work on that today. I love the cover, BTW! Beautiful art work!
–Donna
Thank you Donna! Isn’t she cute?
I hope you enjoy the book! I agree the cover is gorgeous, my cover artist–Nicola Martinez– at TWRP is amazing!
Hello M/E, my dear sweet friend!
So good to see you posting again and that baby just could not be any cuter if she tried! Oh my, what a beauty!
I’m so proud of you and for you that you’re able to accomplish so much with baby #3 on board. I’m right behind you (just 3 more months to go for me) and I’m frantically trying to write and accomplish as much as I can in order to be “ahead of the game”.
You give me hope and encouragement that I’ll somehow be able to manage it all when my time comes.
Although, I may need to get a tutorial from you on how to successfully breastfeed while typing a manuscript. Perhaps you could offer this at our 2010 Celtic Hearts Workshops Academy? LOL
Love and hugs,
Kerri
Hello Lady!
I remember that…. I was rushing rushing rushing to get it all done
But you have an older one too, like me so it makes it a lot easier–accept for the activities… She takes swimming 2x a week and is on student council one afternoon a week. I abhor packing everyone into the car…
Oh yes, lets put that one on the rosters! lol

Congratulations on your sweet little girl. Such a beauty. I can only imagine the grief you’re giving your hubby for seeking food while you were giving birth. LOL.
Love you, kiddo! She’ll get into your groove soon.
Thanks Ash! Man did I lay into him one day… lol Then he gently reminded me that I told him repeatedly to go go go get food and let me take a nap
Guess baby had other plans!
You’re superwoman! Don’t ever let anyone believe other wise!
Thanks Carole! There was a day several months ago that I was only answering to Superwoman, maybe I should do that again?
Congratulations on all the positive happenings in your life! — Beautiful Baby Alexis! — And your book cover grabs my attention.
I see phrases in your excerpt which I can relate to:
“full breasts” — urging me to attend a weight-watching group today! — Oh, sorry! That’s just my creative side at work!
I also love the phrase: ” … he would rather chew off his own arm than attend another ball.” Great imagery!
Thank you Rita!!!!
I’ve got the full breasts going on too…. I’ll meet you at the weight-watching group
I’m so glad you enjoyed the excerpt. I really enjoyed writing it!

First, she’s so cute! What a sweet little blessing. Second, congratulations!! Third, you AMAZE me! Wow, I was more worried about finding time to sleep, eat, and shower than doing anything else when my guys were that little. You rock, Eliza. Take care.
Thank you Viola! I admit eating is tough, which might actually end up working in my favor
You know my husband thinks I’m a machine… he might be right, I may be robotic. I need a reprogram! lol
Beautiful baby. And right now grabbing some rest is more important than writing. That will come when she finally settles in for a good schedule and sleeps through the night(fingers crossed that she will do it soon for you) And great cover.
Take care, Hannah
Thank you Hannah!!! I think she’s on her way. Last night she went to bed at 9:30, got up at 1am and then not again until 5:30. It was AMAZING!
Alexis is super adorable!
Congrats on getting your edits done. I’m still working on mine. Good thing my TWRP editor is understanding! Congrats on the release. I have to go track down that fan of yours who requested it as a prize!
Thank you Emma! I can’t wait to see more pics of your little one
Thank God for understanding editors! She was so nice about it
OH yes! That was so cool to have a fan!
Congrats on the new release, Eliza!
Baby Alexis is absolutely adorable! I love sleeping baby pics. They’re just so darn cute!
You have my full respect for getting back into the swing of things with a newborn. I had a wonderful schedule going before my second baby was born. . .two and a half years later- I’m still trying to get back on it!! I’m right there with you on the expanding booty! Good grief!! Of all things to get big, why does it have to be the rear end?! So, not fair!
LOL! So not fair and seriously, its dangerous back there
I was a stickler for schedules, but I’m throwing them out the window now for awhile….
Thank you! She’s just started smiling like all the time, so I’ll try to catch it with the camera and post that one next
Happy release day (one day late) and that photo is precious!
Thank you and Thank you

Hello my eggplant! You are a marvel to me…any woman with more than one child, much less three, amazes me with what they accomplish. And not only are you accomplishing a lot, you make adorable babies! What a doll she is.

M/E,
I am so happy for you. Congratulations on your beautiful little girl (well, actually, all three), your hubby, and your newest release. The universe is smiling upon you. Although I didn’t get the chance to meet you personally at the convention, I can only say, based on your emails and your active involvement with life, that you are a positive person who attracts positive things/people into her life.
Many blessings upon you!
Julie
